Sew Skirts September !

Yes! All through the month of September will be sashaying around in Skirts!!!!

Skirts have been my favourite outfits since childhood, but somehow never managed to have worn more of them! I am more confident of self (body-wise!) than ever before and would hence like to indulge myself in loads of skirts! When this thought of making skirts (read lots of them!) crossed my mind, got an idea, why not share this entire process with all of you my lovely readers, and may be have a sew-along!

Here is the Sew Skirts September Calendar !

First week of September we shall be doing

  • Draft a Basic Skirt Sloper
  • Make a Skirt Muslin
  • Do a fit test and do alterations to the sloper (if required)

By now we have a basic skirt sloper ready ! its time to try out variations. During this entire second week, i shall be doing pattern alterations to basic skirt sloper to make drafts for Skirt Variations!

A-Line skirt
Pencil skirt
Panel Skirt
Cowl Skirt
Circle Skirts
and the list goes on, these were the ones that came up to my mind immediately, rest assured to see a lot more of them!

Now we will in the third week and have a basic skirt as well as different variations with us, why don't we try sewing some of them, so there will be mini-tute for various styles chosen at random

Last week will time to add some special effects to our skirts, yes we are talking about adding pockets, inserting zippers, hidden seams, hidden darts, hemline styles, scallop hem and so on ...

Also all through the month we shall also discuss what styles of skirt should one wear depending on their body types and what are the fabrics to choose for varied styles!

It is going to be an excited month of Sewing Skirts Along Through the September which also happens to be National Sewing Month in US!!!

So what do you say?! Are you in! Please do let me know, i would like to know how many of you are interested, you need be a sewista to join in, you can even be a fashionista on the look out for skirt trends, remember we are going to discuss lots about them as well!

Also i need a favor from you, what do you think about the below badge i have designed for this Sew Skirt September - Month long celebration! Any suggestions! Is it readable! will it pass on the message intended!
