Happy Pongal to you and your family. Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated in South India and is known by various other names across India. Made a traditional Indian Paavadai Sattai. I had made a tutorial for making this here, try making one for your princess. The material is not silk, but jacquard from Rangaachari cloth store in mylapore, chennai. It is a gift from Adithi's grandparents. Since she has enough pattu paavadais in silk fabric, thought making one using this fabric.
The blouse fabric is raw silk, actually had enough fabric in the paavadai material itself, but wantd it to be plain and in contrast to the busy jacquard material. I am glad I chose the plain fabric, as the piping and neckline details show up more prettier than what they would have been with the skirt fabric.
The skirt as well as the blouse are fully lined in100% cotton (which are hard to find here in KL, hence I had stocked enough from chennai! The paavadai is 'body paavadai' as in it is like pinafore with bodice attached to it, it has a zipper closure. The top has traditional Hook and loop closure. Oh how did I miss out on the puff sleeves, which is so so perfect for a any pattu paavadai sattai.
I need to do a proper photo session with my muse and use it as promotion pics for my upcoming paavadai sattai collection titled "Prerna - India Inspired outfits" . Watch out for more.
